Civil servants force more talks
The PCS national executive met this morning and agreed to suspend the planned industrial action over pay from Monday 10 November, which would have included a national one-day strike, overtime ban and possible targeted action into the new year.
The decision came after Gus O'Donnell, head of the civil service, wrote to PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka agreeing to extend the union's ballot mandate by 28 days to allow time for talks.
A copy of the letter is linked from the front page of the PCS website and there's more about the union's national pay campaign elsewhere on the site.
