Spanish Civil War hero dies

The funeral of Bernard McKenna, an International Brigade volunteer, will take place in Manchester next Friday
Bernard, who was 93 when he died, helped to defend Madrid against Franco's fascists from February 1937 until July 1938, when he became a prisoner of war.
After five months he was freed as part of a prisoner exchange with Italian forces.
The funeral is at 2.55pm on August 8, at Manchester Crematorium, Barlow Moor Road. All welcome.
Bernard's family have requested that instead of flowers, donations should be made in his memory to the Working Class Movement Library, Salford.
